'Minecraft' (Lanchester EP)

Enjoyed using Minecraft with my Year 4 pupils today linked to their current topic of 'Rivers'. Pupils first built a hill and then created a source for their river. Once their river reached ground level they were then able to make their rivers flow through different paths. Meanders and tributaries were added to the rivers before they opened out into the mouth of the river and finally flowed into the sea. Some pupils the added additional features to their worlds by including appropriate riverside wildlife and buildings. Ended the session by the pupils showing their worlds on the IWB and describing the path that their rivers were taking. Great lesson that allowed pupils the chance for pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of rivers in a fun, current and creative way.
