Coding Throughout the Curriculum

Coding Throughout the Curriculum Course

Friday 17th May - Harrier Park (Nottingham) - 9:00am - 3:00pm

I am delighted to have organised this fabulous 'Coding Throughout the Curriculum' course for teachers from around the UK at Harrier Park (Nottingham) on Friday 17th May.

Alongside myself will be the fabulous 'Ideas Factory' himself Julian Wood and internationally renowned SEND expert Carol Allen.

The day is jam-packed full of ideas and resources for effectively implementing and embedding coding throughout the curriculum, for children of all ages and abilities.

This is a full day course from 9:00am - 3:00pm and a buffet lunch is provided for all delegates.

Cost of the course is just £49 per delegate, or schools can send two delegates for the special price £75.

All delegates will receive a FREE 'Loti-Bot' coding robot worth £99 Read More About 'Loti-Bot'.

The day kicks-off with a brilliant keynote from Julian Wood (Deputy Headteacher of Wybourn Community Primary School - Sheffield) who will share a great range of fun and practical ideas for embedding coding and computational thinking across the curriculum for pupils of all ages. Julian is a one-man 'Ideas Factory' (hence his Twitter [X] handle of @Ideas_Factory) and thousands of educators from the UK and beyond have benefitted from the fabulous ideas which he has shared. Delegates will take away loads of 'quick wins' (and free ideas) from Julian's session which can be immediately implemented in any education setting with pupils of all ages.

After the morning break the fabulous Carol Allen (SEND specialist) will deliver a session demonstrating how coding can be made accessible for all and providing a great range of ideas for supporting SEND pupils to developing their coding and computational thinking skills. Once more delegates will leave brimming full of free and low cost ideas that will have huge benefits to the teaching of coding in their schools.

The afternoon session begins with a practical coding workshop where delegates will get to unbox their new 'Loti Bot' robot and will get to explore the positive impact that coding robots can have not only in Computing, but also throughout the curriculum in subjects such as Maths and Science. Pupils from my own school (Birchwood Primary School - Tamworth) will also be joining us for the day and they will be demonstrating a wide variety of programming robots and resources which can be utilised across the curriculum with pupils of all ages and abilities.

The day will end with a session by myself where I will share a wide variety of coding and computational apps and websites and will take delegates on a 'coding journey' from EYFS - Year 6. The session will demonstrate a clear progression of skills and will show how digital (plugged) activities and be coupled with physical (unplugged) activities to provide pupils with best skills and experiences to aid their coding development.

Whilst this course will naturally appeal to Computing leads it is also of great use to SENDCOs and to all teachers and teaching assistants who teach in EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

I have picked a central venue of Nottingham to try and make the course as accessible as possible to all schools from the UK and at this time when school budgets are tight, I have kept the cost of the course to an absolute minimum and thanks to my friends from TTS, all delegates will receive a fabulous coding robot which is worth more than double the cost of the course fee! The majority of the teaching ideas and resources which will be demonstrated throughout the day are either free or low cost, enabling them to have an impact in as many schools as possible!

This is an amazing CPD opportunity and is sure to have a huge positive impact on how coding and computational thinking is taught in your school and embedded across the curriculum.
