Interviewing an Evacuee

Truly wonderful experience for my Year 5 pupils at Lanchester EP today. They had the opportunity to interview 91 year-old Dorothy about her experiences as an evacuee during World War 2. Absolutely fantastic for the pupils to learn from a first-hand source and so vital that we take these opportunities, but what was also lovely was how much Dorothy enjoyed and benefited from talking to my pupils too. As an ex-teacher it was lovely to be able to reconnect her to the classroom again and she had certainly lost none of her ability to engage and educate a classroom of children, as she chatted to my two Year 5 classes for over an hour and answered all of their questions.
